Its no secret that in a rush to statehood, Nevada's constitution was telegramed in 1864. "Gee, there must be a lot of errors on a telegram that long!" I thought and I asked the state archives to see it. To my surprise the State of Nevada didn't have a copy of it and the National Archives said it has never been scanned. I requested this document in 2018. It cost me a couple of hundred bucks. For the past two years, I have examined the document off and on, tried to talk to people about telegrams and come up pretty empty handed. So, this video is largely my musings about what it all means. This rather messy form of our constitution gives us the opportunity to re-examine lots of messy elements of elections including fake news, presidential power, military influence, technical glitches and big expenses that were all alive and well back in 1864 as well. The music is from the late 1800's and downloaded from the Library of Congress. My dad thinks I should turn the images into a book to sell. What do you think? Would anyone buy it?
